Although there are many types of halva, in Israel it is made only from sesame seeds. The halva I offer you is made from Tahini with Dibs and Silan (as opposed to industries that use mainly glucose and sugar).
Halva, like Tahini, is rich in iron, calcium, magnesium and potassium and low in sodium.
The most popular sandwich in Israel consists of chocolate for spreading and Halva together, also popular are the Babka cakes filled with this delicious combination.
Do you want to impress your guests with dessert?
Crumble it on vanilla ice cream, and sprinkle some Dibs or Silan over.
Cut puff pastry into squares. Put one slightly chopped fig on each square and a piece of halva inside. If you want, season with a little cardamom, cloves or cinnamon. Close the square so that it wraps the fig and bake over medium heat (345F) for about 15 minutes. It is possible (but not necessary) to add ice cream or whipped cream, it is just perfect.
